A team of Zonta Club of North Sydney volunteers meets regularly to prepare the breast care cushions. The cushions are then completed at the annual Sip and Stuff workshop at the North Sydney Community Centre by an energetic and enthusiastic team of community volunteers. Once completed, they are packaged and distributed to local hospitals. Breast cushions provide comfort to patients who have had breast surgery. The cushion can be tucked under the arm to provide support when sleeping or when using a seat belt.
Thanks to the North Sydney Community Centre for supporting us!
Testimonial: "Last month I had a mastectomy at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and was gifted one of the beautiful handmade pillows that were so lovingly made by your organisation. I had come back from surgery and was in quite a bit of pain in the middle of the night and remembered that the breast care nurse at my pre-admission had mentioned that I should ask for a pillow if I had difficulty sleeping. So I did. … I felt comforted straight away and my heart was warmed to read about all of the amazing work that you do to help women around the world. … I go for my daily walks as well as use the breast care cushion] to protect the area from the seat belt in the car." This project would not exist without the generosity of our volunteers and donors. To assist or donate, please contact us at zontanorthsydney@gmail.com.
